Centres of Excellence — Nowshera & Abbottabad

A GIZ-supported upgrade of two existing campuses into inclusive, accessible and energy-efficient centres of learning.

The Centres of Excellence – Nowshera & Abbottabad are part of a GIZ-supported renovation and upgradation initiative aimed at transforming existing educational institutes into inclusive, sustainable, and future-ready learning environments. Rather than replacing the existing facilities, the design carefully revitalizes and modernizes the campuses by introducing contemporary academic and administrative spaces, barrier-free accessibility, improved circulation, and upgraded infrastructure while respecting the original context. The master plans organize functions around landscaped courtyards and open spaces that encourage interaction, well-being, and a strong sense of community. Designed with universal accessibility, accessible classrooms, gentle ramps, and user-friendly amenities, the campuses ensure equal opportunities for all users. Clean architectural forms, abundant natural daylight, cross-ventilation, energy-efficient systems, rooftop solar integration, and thoughtfully designed green spaces further enhance environmental performance and user comfort. Together, these projects demonstrate how the sensitive renovation of existing institutions can create resilient, inclusive, and modern educational campuses that support academic excellence and enrich the learning experience for future generations.
